November 2007 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Carer,

In the past few weeks you have had many notes and letters from me. However there are lots of brief messages that are better put in a newsletter

Disability Equality Scheme

I am currently writing the school’s disability equality scheme. This will reflect what the school is doing to make our work in school  more accessible to disabled users; pupils, parents and staff. If any parent/pupil has a disability and would like to work with me to help develop understanding of the problems and solutions which may be involved, I would be glad to hear from you.

Dinner Money/Childcare Fees

All services must be paid for in advance. Any debt owed to the school impacts on our budget for all pupils. The governing body have a duty to withhold any services if fees are outstanding.

Award

Hannah Snelling in Y6 recently came 3rd in the the ‘Young Woman of the Year’ category in Sefton’s ‘Shining Stars’ awards.

Full Service Funding.

We have secured funding for a further  three years to deliver extended schools services. If you have any suggestions for services we could provide that would contribute to raising pupils’ attainment, please contact Jenny Worthington (0151 928 1255) or Pauline Frazer.(0151 928 7012)

Parking

Parking is difficult around any school premises. I would ask that parents show respect for local residents and each other when bringing cars on to the roads around school. The staff car park should also not be used in the morning to drop off children at Breakfast Club. I have been asked to remind you that the disabled bay on Alwyn Avenue is for a particular designated badge holder only.

Dogs

It has been brought to my attention recently that increasing numbers of parents are bringing dogs onto the school site. Some pupils are very anxious around dogs and of course any soiling by pets is not only a problem if it gets on to shoes etc, but can be seriously toxic to children.

Please can parents note that dogs are not allowed on school premises.

Helicopter Visit

Gemma Nicholas, Shannon McFadden, Nathan Connolly and Kain Eastaway won a firework safety poster competition run through the police and fire service. The prize was a visit to the police helicopter at Woodvale.
