Achievement through Happy Learning

Inspired by Rousseau

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Year 6 Year: 2023 - 2024

Year 6 have enjoyed learning about the French artist Henri Rousseau, who was inspired by the jungle even though he never had the opportunity to see one in person.  We considered his style, use of animals and oversized leaves and flowers, and experimented with our own interpretation using our sketch books.  The finished product was developed using a multi media approach by sketching outlines, transferring this onto fabric, outlining in sharpie, then using oil pastels to colour and blend deeply, and finally spraying the fabric for a full colour and impactful outcome.  We are all very pleased with the finished pictures and have displayed them in our classroom.
