Achievement through Happy Learning

Year 4: Autumn 1

Class: Year 4 Year: 2021 - 2022

During the Autumn term, children have demonstrated a desire to learn and showed inquisitiveness to engage with new and exciting topics.

In English, Geography and Art we have learnt about the amazing continent of Africa. We have used our learning time to delve deeper into their culture as well as create some fantastic pieces of Tinga Tinga art. In addition, we focussed our geographical eye, comparing the city of Liverpool with Accra in Ghana. We were extremely grateful to Mrs Cutler for bringing in her Tortoise - Timmy, to give us a real life example of the characters we have been reading about and recreating in our stories and art work.

Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed Hatton Hill's push towards promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle. As a cohort we have taken part in Beth Tweedle Gymnastics partaking in key elements such as balancing, jumps and holds. We have also made great use of our all-weather track - engaging in activities such as relays whilst also being able to take charge of our own fitness by using stopwatches to time our runs.

In Science, we have engaged with a very exciting topic - electricity. This allowed us to explore via insightful experiments which included making circuits whilst investigating insulators and conductors.
