Accessibililty
We are committed to providing an accessible environment which values and includes all pupils, staff, parents and visitors regardless of their education, physical, sensory, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural needs. As a school we will also remove or minimise any potential barriers to learning allowing all children to achieve and participate fully in school life. Our school will challenge negative attitudes about disability and accessibility and developing a culture of awareness, tolerance and inclusion.
According to the Equality Act 2010 a person has a disability if:
(a) He or she has a physical or mental impairment, and
(b) The impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
We have used the Accessibility plans and Equality Act 2010: a handbook for schools to support the development of our Accessibility Plan.
A Reader Lives a Thousand Lives
At Hatton Hill, stories are important to us. We use stories to learn about the lives of others developing skills of empathy and a wider understanding of the challenges faced by different people within the local and wider communities. Our School Council, chose the No Outsiders project to help children promote community cohesion preparing children for life as global citizens.
