Achievement through Happy Learning

Art & Design

Year 2 art (typically for children ages 6–7) focuses on building foundational techniques in drawing, painting, 3D sculpture, and collage. Students experiment with color mixing, texture, and line work while studying famous artists and designers to inspire their own imaginative creations.

Autumn

The famous Liverpool waterfront will be Year 2's inspiration this term. Why not visit with your family! Take a walk - or even the ferry - and observe the shapes of the famous building which are unique to our city.

Spring

Perhaps you can find out more about animals which use camoflague by reading books, watching a documentary, or even visiting the zoology collection at Liverpool World Museum (it is free).

Summer

Pop Art provides inspiration for Year 2 this term. You can see examples of Pop Art at Liverpool Tate. Go along to truly experience the colour and size of this popular art.

Our Intent and Impact (I&I) sheets below list the questions we want children to be able to answer once they have completed their learning. They also highlight key vocabulary which children must learn.
