Achievement through Happy Learning

Art & Design

Year 4 art introduces foundational techniques like scale, proportion, 3D perspective, and colour mixing (tints and shades). Learners will also study historical masters and local art to inspire their own drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture projects.

Autumn

Tinga Tinga paintings are bold with great attention to detail. They feature animals native to Africa. You could see some of these animals at Chester Zoo.

The famous iron men on Crosby beach were scultped by Anthony Gormley. Try to visit to look at the art and how it fits in with its environment. A photograph of you next to an iron man for your sketch book would be fantastic. You will be developing your skills working with clay this term and your inspiration will be a place that is special to you.

Spring

The Impressionsists completely changed the way people experienced art. You wil give careful thought to how they saw and represented the world around them.

Our Intent and Impact (I&I) sheets below list the questions we want children to be able to answer once they have completed their learning. They also highlight key vocabulary which children must learn.
