Year 3 English transitions children from early reading foundations to more complex writing, comprehension, and grammar. The English curriculum includes:
Reading: word reading and comprehension
Writing: transcription (including spelling and handwriting) and composition
Writing: vocabulary, grammar and punctuation
Spoken Language
At Hatton Hill, we place a very high focus on reading - both within our curriculum and for pleasure. Each classroom has its own designated reading area and at the end of each day, children gather together to enjoy a story together.
Handwriting is taught following 'letter-join'. Parents will receive informatiion explaining how to access handwriting games and activities at home.
