Designing Mayan Masks

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Year 5 Year: 2021 - 2022

Designing Mayan Masks

This term, we have produced our own designs for Mayan masks after researching the designs used by the Ancient Maya. We were able to create a piece of artwork incorporating specific shapes, colours and patterns. Our masks were created by using multimedia - oil pastels, coloured ink and permanent markers on muslin cloth. The designs were bright, colourful and authentic to the Ancient Maya tradition.
