We are becoming future food heroes!

Balfour Beatty are a local construction company and have funded ‘Farm Urban’ to deliver an aquaponics programme to Hatton Hill's year 6 children.  We have received all of the hardware, free of charge, and completed our launch day on the 25th February.  You can see from the pictures that the children had a wonderful time experimenting with the construction and plumbing of the system.  Both Year 6 classrooms now have their own aquaponics system - all we need now are the fish!  'The fish?' I hear you say.  Yes, these clever systems enable crops to be grown indoors, vertically and without soil. 

At the end of our project we will get the opportunity to go into Liverpool and visit the site of the fully operational farm, which provides leafy greens to Alder Hey hospital and the surrounding community.
