Learning About Emotions
Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education
We were really pleased to welcome parents into school to share our learning. From Nursery to Year 6, children carefully considered their emotions in lots of different and exciting ways. It is really important that children are able to identify and talk about their emotions beyond simple terms so they can better understand them, for example, anger could be more specifically described as frustration, displeasure, outrage or just being miffed. We want our children to understand that all our emotions are ok – they are messages and exist to tell us something important. However, it’s unhelpful when our emotions get too big, so we have to learn to recognise and manage them. The mood of our Open Morning was definitely one of joy, this helps us all to notice what is going well and that fuels our energy to move forward. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.
