London Adventure 2026
Lesson: History
Class: Year 5 Year: 2025 - 2026
Year 5 had a fabulous opportunity to visit London on an overnight residential. We travelled by train, leaving very early, but having great fun and lots of games of Uno with our friends on the way! When we arrived, we made our way by Tube to The Tower of London. At The Tower, we viewed the Crown Jewels; learned how it once served as a menagerie for some exotic animals; and enjoyed a tour which explained the Tower's gruesome history with our tour guide (Lady Katherine Grey!). After that and a trip to the gift shop, we made our way to the YHA where we enjoyed delicious food and a good night's sleep. The following day we set off for some sight-seeing. We were able to watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, see the Big Ben, Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament. We also paused for thought at the National Covid Memorial Wall. Staff are so proud of the children who were exceptionally well-behaved and received many compliments from the public. They also navigated the Tube with great skill. Thank you to Royal Historical Palaces for making this trip possible through their generous grant. Also, thanks to the YHA for their generous bursary and to Avanti and Tube staff who treated us with great kindness. What a memorable adventure it was!
