Achievement through Happy Learning

Nursery Autumn 2

Class: Reception Year: 2021 - 2022

This term we have absolutely loved reading 'Meg and Mog' by Helen Nichol, 'The Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell and 'The Gruffalo' and 'The Gruffalo's Child' by Julia Donaldson. We have talked about night and the dark, experienced being in a dark place with a torch. We have met a real life barn owl called Ollie and learned a little about being nocturnal. We even made our own fabulous playdough owls. We were story tellers joining in with telling 'The Owl Babies'. We have walked through a wood like the mouse in the Gruffalo and explored the meaning of 'behind'. when the mouse tells the Gruffalo to walk 'behind' him. We have been exploring the numbers 1 to 5 with the help of The Number blocks and we have doing lots of counting and spotting numbers. We have learned about Remembrance and talked about feeling worried or scared like the baby owls in our story and also being brave like the mouse and the soldiers. We have played outside, trying hard to master the pedals on bikes, building our own ramps and obstacle courses amongst other things. We have been learning about the Christmas story and talking about why people celebrate Christmas. We have learned about the job of a postal worker and have been running our own Post Office too. It has been such a busy half -term, we hope you will have a happy and healthy Christmas time and we look forwards to welcoming you back in the 2022 along with many new faces.
