Achievement through Happy Learning

Reception Spring Term

Class: Reception Year: 2021 - 2022

This term children have consolidated the skills developed in the autumn term and are beginning to be ready to read and to write!  During the spring term children have travelled to faraway lands and learnt about polar bears, penguins and dragons!  We started 2022 by travelling from pole to pole, learning about the creatures that inhabit the Arctic before joining a boy and his new Penguin friend on a boat journey to Antarctica with the story ‘Lost and Found’.  We travelled to China next to learn about the spring festival of Chinese New Year. We made cards and a dancing dragon of our own and we held races inspired by the story of ‘The Great Race’.  Children became ‘Superheroes’ for our next topic, learning about ‘Supertato’ and some real-life superheroes that can be found much closer to home. We have made Mother’s Day cards, raised money for Comic Relief, and for the people of Ukraine. Children learnt about the importance of oral health and healthy eating as a part of school science week.  We have finished the term learning about the changes we see in spring and writing about our observations before getting ready to celebrate Easter with a QR code egg hunt!
