Achievement through Happy Learning

Year 3: Autumn 1

Class: Year 3 Year: 2021 - 2022

What a wonderful start to the school year and our first year in the juniors! Both J1 and J2 have settled in happily to their new classes and surroundings.

In English, we dived into adventure stories and enjoyed reading the story, Stig of the Dump. We explored the characters and wrote our own exciting chapters in the style of Clive King.  We also enjoyed reading Stone Age Boy and writing our own adventure story set in the historical stone age.

In our history lessons, we went rocking through the ages learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. We compared life in the different ages and learnt how life then was so different to today.

In science, our topic was 'All about Rocks and Soils'. We loved getting hands on with some interesting rocks and looking at them more closely with the microscopes. Who knew that rocks could be so interesting? We realised that there are three different types of rocks, learnt how these rocks are formed and compared rocks and soils based on their properties.

After all our learning in the classroom, we have still managed to have the energy to do two PE lessons each week. We have been trying to build up our stamina and pace around our wonderful outdoor track. In gymnastics, we have developed our flexibilty, balance and technique to create some super sequences across and on the apparatus.

This year we have been so excited to start learning a new language. We have started to learn Spanish with Ms Parry through lots of songs, games and fun activities.

We have had a very busy half term but have worked to please our teachers. We look forward to learning even more next term!
