Year 3 Go Back in Time
Lesson: History
Class: Year 3 Year: 2025 - 2026
Year 3 had a wonderful trip to the World Museum in Liverpool. Our first stop was to the Time and Space area, where the children watched a video of astronaut Tim Peake. They saw him playing a game of ping pong inside the International Space Station and were surprised to see a bubble being used as the ball! The children were totally engrossed in the video and were quite possibly the quietest they have ever been!
After that, we visited the dinosaur exhibition and saw a selection of bones and fossils, along with some rather large creepy crawlies who were, thankfully, enclosed in glass cases.
Then, onto our main event - the Egyptian mummification workshop. Some of our children were transformed into Anubis and his priests, ready to perform the mummification process on recently deceased 'Bob'. With much skill, they carefully removed a number of internal organs, which the ancient Egyptians would store in canopic jars. Bob's brain which was removed via the nostrils with a hook, much to the children's delight.
After lunch, we were able to travel along the River Nile to ancient Egypt and find out lots of interesting facts on the Egyptian trail, before finally visiting the Mummy room to see an actual Mummy!
