Achievement through Happy Learning

Year 4 Autumn 2

Class: Year 4 Year: 2021 - 2022

During Autumn 2 we have learnt about a variety of topics throughout our curriculum which have both intrigued and excited us.

In English, we have explored the classic novel ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ We were able to further our learning and delve into the world of Wonderland during our Alice Day. Whilst exploring characters and plot, we were able to consider archaic vocabulary and language features.

In Geography, we turned our focus to the Amazon Rainforest to explore the varying layers and creatures that live there whilst also debating the pros and cons of cutting down trees using the book 'The Great Kapok Tree' as our source.

During our Art sessions, we explored the local sculptor Antony Gormley turning our specific attention to the Iron Men on Crosby Beach. We investigated colour by creating sunsets and were able to practice our skills at creating appropriate proportion and perspective.

In Science, we have engaged with a very exciting topic - sound. This topic allowed us to explore using insightful experiments which included making cup phones to talk to our peers whilst investigating sound waves and vibrations.

For our computing topic, we have been coding and problem solving to create algorithms. We really enjoyed using LightBot for this!

Finally, we were able to finish the term by completing the much anticipated Santa Dash and enjoyed fun games at our Year 4 Christmas Party.
