Achievement through Happy Learning

Geography

Year 1 geography focuses on making sense of the world and their immediate environment. It builds foundational map skills, introduces weather patterns, and teaches basic physical and human features of the local area and the broader world.

Autumn

This term Year 1 will studying your local area. Have a walk around with an adult and talk about different types of houses and features you can see, for example the canal.

Spring

Think about the weather you expect at different times of year. Talk about the weather each day with an adult and try to use the correct words to describe it. Have you ever been abroad? What was the weather like in the country you visited?

Summer

By the end of this term you will know the features of hot and cold places, and where they are situated on the globe. To explore the world visit BBC Bitezise and follow the link to KS1 Geography.

Our Intent and Impact (I&I) sheets below list the questions we want children to be able to answer once they have completed their learning. They also highlight key vocabulary which children must learn.
